JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Over the past few years, entry into many European countries (including the UK) has been made considerably easier since migration restrictions have been eased. As a consequence there are people and workers from many countries scattered throughout the Union albeit not on their own soil.

Learning one or more foreign languages opens up a whole new world of employment opportunities not only in the UK but abroad also.

Foreign workers coming over here may not be able to speak any English, so consequently most colleges have specially prepared courses to address this situation. There is an ongoing demand for teachers with the necessary skills.

• If you can speak a foreign language, the job of Interpreter is available to you. This has become more demanding than ever with the influx of foreign workers. Hospitals, Police, Local Councils and Government all have their need for an interpreter in situations where there is a communication problem. Some companies that do business abroad may also need to utilise the skills of an interpreter when they are making deals or doing day to day business with an overseas division.

• If you are able to write in a foreign language, there are opportunities in the field of Translation. This is a very wide area indeed as there are jobs available in many different fields. Many companies require their all their written material e.g. advertising, brochures and manuals etc. to be translated into a variety of languages. Those that have visibility on the internet will almost certainly have their own website which (if they do business abroad) will need to be accessible in more than one language.
